Indian Temple

This is an Ancient Temple from India. For this build, I had to depict stone carving with Lego. This is an ancient temple from India based on the Nagara style of architecture, developed in the 10th century. These types of structures were mostly carved out of the local rock from the surrounding landscape. The usage of parts here became the building technique. This model is a good example of making a diorama.. Just building a plain temple wasn’t interesting on its own, but all the activity happening in and around it made it come alive. Stalls and shops outside, sages meditating under the banyan tree, a marriage being officiated, etc. Just for context, temples in India are pretty festive year round compared to more sombre places of worship.

This model was featured on the Brothers Brick Lego Blog and BrickJournal issue #30 and won an award for Best Architectural Style at BrickCon 2011
